Scavenger Hunt writing contest details

If you attended our second annual Scavenger Hunt this past weekend and you are a member of the Mobile Writers Guild (or become one!) you are eligible to submit a short work of fiction or poetry to win one of two grand prizes.

Prizes include:

  • The opportunity to accompany Ghost Hunters of the South on an actual investigation; and
  • Free admission to the Mobile Writers Guild’s spring workshop, featuring author Lena Roy

There will be a grand prize winner for both prose and poetry. The parameters are:

For prose:

  • Must be fiction
  • Up to 2,500 words
  • Emailed to mobilewritersguild@gmail.com in the body of the email (no attachments, please)
  • Must be original and unpublished work
  • Deadline for submissions is midnight Oct. 28

For poetry:

  • 50 lines
  • Emailed to mobilewritersguild@gmail.com in the body of the email (no attachments, please)
  • Must be original and unpublished work
  • Deadline for submissions is midnight Oct. 28

Top entries (as decided by the MWG) will be posted anonymously on this blog by Oct. 31. Visitors will have until midnight Nov. 2 to vote for their favorite piece in each category. You are welcome to encourage your friends and family to vote, but please don’t tell them which entry is yours.

Winners will be announced at our Nov. 3 meeting. Good luck!
