Mobile Writers’ Guild

December 1, 2011  6:00pm

The December regular meeting of the Mobile Writers’ Guild was held at the West Mobile Regional Library and called to order by Guild President, Carrie Cox.  After welcoming everyone to the meeting, announcements were made of upcoming events.  April Higgenbotham presented the financial report and it was approved as presented.

Winners of the First Annual Tracy Hurley Writing contest were annouced and presented with their awards.

The high school level winners were:

First place – Carl Thomas, Jr. for “Do You Believe in Angels?”

Second place – Victoria Taylor for “The Letter”

The middle school winners were:

Third place – Abigail Wyrosdic for “Sara’s Life”

Second place – Elaine Russ for “The Book that Belongs to Anna Bleak”

First place – India LaPalm for “The Two Daughters”

In conjunction with the meeting, authors and craftspeople were invited to share their work with members by renting a table.

The meeting was adjourned and members and guests were invited to mix and mingle and enjoy the shopping and refreshments.
